Reid can get up on all fours, hands and knees, but still hasn't figured out how to coordinate everything at the same time. Even though he is not fully crawling you would think he is , because as soon as I turn my head he is behind the chair, tearing up the fern, eating stuff that's not suppose to be eaten....... and so on. Obie tries to keep tabs on him, but even he gets tired!
Lately Reid's hand eye coordination has really improved. The Pediatrician recommended to start giving him peas and other small pieces of food to practice picking up things with his thumb and forefinger and taking it to his mouth. At first he might have gotten one pea of 20 in his mouth earlier in the week, now he is about 15/20! I cut up some kiwi and he was even able to get a couple of pieces in his mouth too. Kiwi is very slimy, so that was more difficult than peas and cheerios. Andy and I just sit in amazement at how each day he improves his coordination. He is like our little test subject! As Reid gets better at eating, he is making his big brother mad, less food on the floor to clean up after.
So far it looks as though he may be left handed, 90% of the time he uses his left hand to eat, occasionally he will pick up food with his right, but transfers it over to the left to place in his mouth. My mom is left handed, although she does a lot with her right and Andy is the same way, he is ambidextrous, and easily switches back and forth.
Here are some pictures of his bath time, which he LOVES! Andy calls this his "cape". Last week Reid had is fist underwater experience and since then, he is a lot more courageous in the bathtub. He came up from the water with a big smile on his face and kept trying to stink his face back in. Here he is trying to kiss the tub! He is into the kissing and biting stage, so watch out when you visit, you might think he is coming in for a sweet kiss then bam, those teeth come out! He is getting his top two front teeth, so soon he will have four teeth! Hopefully, he will not bite his mommy, (the hand the feeds him)!!!!

Playgroup
Thursday Reid had a very busy day. As most of you know Andy's company does a lot of consumer testing and the majority of Andy's clients are toy manufactures. Yesterday was Reid's first visit to Playgroup. It is a monitored setting that allows manufactures of toys to bring in their prototypes to see what children think of the possible new toys. It is for children 6 months to 6 years. Anna (one of my friends) brought along her two children as well, Michael 17 months and Kyra 2 months. Both Michael and Reid really enjoyed playing with all the toys and watching the other children play too. Since this was Reid and Michael first visit they were a little shy at first, but buy the end of the time they were getting right in there and playing. Since both Anna and I are stay at home moms its good for us and the kids to get some social interaction. After play group we went out to lunch with Andy, then Anna and her children came back to our place and played some more. Both Reid and Michael were exhausted! We are going to try to do this every Thursday if it permits. Here are some pictures of the boys playing. Can you believe I didn't take any pictures of precious Kyra!! She is absolutely adorable! Little girls are just so special......but so are little boys.

Here are some pictures I took this morning, mmm blueberries and yogurt!!!

Getting into things...
Since Reid is completely mobile now he is getting into EVERYTHING!!! He loves magazines, cords and pulling Obie's hair! The only way I can keep him from eating everything in sight is to keep that pacifier in his mouth. I don't know if that is the best thing to do, but it sure beats choking on paper or chewing on cords. I don't want to be the mom that says no to everything, because I do want him to explore his surroundings, but one day he will figure out that if he removes the pacifier he can put other things in his mouth. At that point we will have to start telling him no and redirect his attention to something else, but until then, the pacifier works for now.
We had a nurse appointment this morning for Reid to get one of his shots. Since we are spreading them out, instead of getting all at once, we have to go into the Dr office every month, but it gives me peace of mind that his little body is not getting bombarded with so many shots at once. Especially since the Medical field thinks that age is more important than weight when it come to vaccinations. I have a problem with the Center for Disease Control blanketing the vaccination schedule to months in age, when I have seen many babies younger than Reid that are 10 lbs heavier than him. They really need to look into that when giving vaccines by age rather than going by weight. Most other medication doseages go by weight, especially infants, ie Tylenol! Reid is 40th percentile in weight and height for his age, so almost average, but just a lb or two is huge when you only weigh 17 lbs. Anyways..... that's my 2 Cents!!
Andy will be returning tonight late from Montreal, (he missed his flight, long story), so Reid will see him in the morning. I will try to get it on video. Last time when Andy went away for business and came back, Reid just lit up when he saw his daddy! So precious, makes me melt!
Here are some pictures of Reid eating his favorite thing! Thanks for the outfit Jamie and Scott! He looks like a little dude in it!

Crawling.... well sort of......
This is how Reid craws, he can move pretty good, so safety in the home comes this weekend!
Just for those that are panicking right now, the cord is unplugged, it was only used to share with all of you Reid's crawling ability. The only way I can get him on camera is put something in front of him that he is not allowed to have.... And boy does he love those cords!

Man it's cold!!!!!
The temperature this morning -23F without wind chill!!!! But it's sunny, so no complaints! Obie can only stay out long enough to make it to his favorite garden statue, hike a leg and run back in! Now that is cold...... I have shoes for him I could put on, then he would probably stay out all day. He LOVES the snow, he just lays in it and watches the neighbors and the cars on the street. He is a perfect mixture of a little old lady and a two year old child! He has been very good with Reid these past few days. Reid isn't crawling yet, but he does get around pretty good by other means and Obie is always right beside him hoping to get a little scratch or rub from his little buddy. Obie even brings Reid his toys when they are out of reach! I think that is why Reid isn't crawling.... If Reid screams loud enough Obie brings him a toy, sometimes its a bone, but Reid doesn't care! I will have to get that on tape so you all can see.
Hope you all are nice and toasty and enjoying your weather!

Additional photos of the little man growing up!
This is a new face Reid has started giving us when mom and dad are not doing what Reid wants them to do. These pictures really don't do the look justice, it's funnier in person.
I want to see, I want to see....
No big news, just trying to keep warm!
All the family enjoying the snow we got last Friday and Saturday! We ended up getting 8-9 inches, just enough to make things fun and pretty! Obie just loves it, he will lay out in the driveway and let the snow fall on him. With all the hair, he stays nice and toasty, but his legs will cramp up a little when he comes back in. He is so young at heart and forgets that he is 11 years old!

Where's the turtle, I don't see a turtle?
I was cleaning out the closet the other day and found this hat in a bag. I bought it a while back, but kept it in the bag ever since because I decided I was going to return it. I thought that it was a little pricey for a hat that a little boy would only be wearing for a few months. I thought there would be no harm in taking a couple of pictures of him wearing it before I returned it, shhhhh don't tell anyone. But once I saw it on him, I decided that we would be keeping the hat!!!

Reid and his new Irish love!
I discovered Reid's love for Irish music including the Irish Bodhran drum! So far he loves the High Kings, one of mine and Andy's favorite Irish music groups! Maybe I should have gotten Reid a ticket to the Celtic Women concert for Christmas along with the tickets I got for Andy and me??
Watch the video of him breaking into dance at the sound of the drum!
Watch the video of him breaking into dance at the sound of the drum!
Funny, as I was previewing the video, Reid was in his jumper just dancing away to the sound of the video!! I wish you all were here to see.
