One man’s Trash is another man’s …Trash
One man’s trash is another man’s treasure unless your wife says it is still trash. This weekend we got rid of the old hot tub on craigslist, it was also the Glen Ellyn spring sweep where you can put as much trash to the curb as you want. I guess this is a well known event as it attracts people from all across Chicago to see what treasures appear on the the islands between the sidewalk and street.
For a pack rat or anyone that loves to go dumpster diving, this is the Mecca of high quality garbage. I promised Kari that I would not jump in the parade of trucks with trailers and station wagons. This year it is only about purging things we have held onto for too long. Until… our neighbor across the street set this at the curb.
Kari was the one that said we should scavenge this, and it was an instant hit with Reid. Since it was my neighbor I hadn’t met yet, I had to go over and ask where he got this and introduce myself. Bob J who I would guess is in his late 80’s said he found this 25 yr ago from another treasure hunt for his grandchildren. I am sure Reid will enjoy this desk for many years to come.
