Reid's First Camping Trip

We just got back from our week-long camping trip to Wisconsin yesterday afternoon. There are two posts, since we could not fit all the pictures into one post we had to do two. We camped the first two nights in a tent in Sheboygan, Wisconsin at Kohler Andrea State Park. Then the rest of the week we stayed in a rustic cottage 35 miles northeast of Madison in Baraboo, Wisconsin, right outside of the Devil's Lake State Park. Reid did absolutely wonderful! We are excited to take him again soon! The only thing that we wish we could have done more was to hike around. He is still to little to be put in a backpack carrier and he hates front carriers. Maybe in a couple of months we will try again, but it will have to be south, its getting too chilly at night.

The first night Andy and I had a miserable night. Our air mattress (I know, we are getting old and I refuse to sleep on our little inflatable pads like we did in college), sprung a leak and deflated half-way through the night. I did not think it would be that cold, I was all worried about Reid when we packed, I didn't pack our mummy bags or any pants. I thought a couple of sheets and fleece blanket would do. So needless to say Andy and I froze and didn't sleep a wink while Reid was toasty warm and slept through the night!


The second night we had company, I managed to put away most of the food, but forgot about Obie's. So the next morning we found an empty bag that once contained enough dog food to last for a week, GONE!! The little animals almost got our CHEESE CURDS too!!! The Ziploc bag was hanging out of the cooler and it was all torn up, but the curds were still safe inside. Whew, we couldn't camp in Wisconsin if we would have lost the cheese!

All in all we had a very relaxing time and caught up on some much needed sleep!

The pictures are of Lake Michigan not the ocean, can you believe that surfing season has just started in Sheboygan and goes until February? Wisconsinites always make the best of anything!
